The opening lines to Jennifer Johnston&#039;s &quot;How Many Miles to Babylon&quot; immediately seem ominous. We know that a dreadful fate awaits the narrator. He goes on to tell us that he is committed to no cause and loves no &quot;living person&quot;, which again intrigues us. He then tells us that he has no future except what you can count in hours.]]></description>
